1. A res in the right position really makes filling the system much easier. A T just doesn't help as much. Maybe you like rotating your case around and shaking it to get the bubbles out? Make a res or get one and put it at the top of the loop.

2. Use 1/2" for better performance. Use 3/8" for much easier routing of your tubes. Your choice. The performance difference will probably be in the 1-2C range, but that's a pull-the-number-out-of-my-pants estimate. It depends too much upon the amount of tubing you have and how often and tightly you have to bend the tubing.
