First pump I've used so can't really compare it to any others. However, I can tell you my AquaXtreme 50Z-DC12 cannot be heard over the sound of the water swishing into the res. Don't know if it makes a difference but mine is mounted behind the HDD rack (in my CF1009) using doublesided sticky tape stuck on the round base.
