Not exactly, position with rotor upside down is bad. There's noise produced because rotor is falling down to the volute (magnetic field isn't too strong to keep it when it spins). I'll notice this when I tried them and Laing don't recommend it too in their pump notice
. Vertically mounting isn't a problem at all.
