Isn't bling just a "negative" word for marketing?
After all, marketing even with a good product has a big role on sales, decisive perhaps, be it by praising technical values or commercial ("mundane"?) ones.
No speculating intended, ( I understand the position you're in), though certain trends seem to be developing.
