Default Correct way to mount pump?

Assuming that it is external and not submersed, what is the best way to mount a water pump?

I have a Eheim 1250 and currently I have it mounted to a board using rubber grommets on top and bottom of the bolts. This works pretty good but there is still a buzzing coming from it. I noticed that when I put my hand on it the buzzing dies to a whisper.
Perhaps I should mount it using stiff foam on two sides? But I want to be careful in mounting it so it can still dissipate any heat. But I know it can be a lot quieter than it is. What is the correct way? What do you do?
