Hey Folks,
I'm about to set up another system and am thinking of using yet another
Swiftech MCW6000 - only, instead of putting the tubing directly on the block, I plan to use John Guest
speedfit fittings (these are stand-alone versions of the push-in fittings that came on all recent Swiftech blocks up to but not including the 6000/6002).
I plan on inserting type 'M' copper pipe (thin wall tubing, actually) into the other side and fastening the silicone tubing to
that. I'll probably get the local radiator shop to make me a couple of smooth sweep-bends (probably 2" or 3" in bend radius) and get 'em to make a "bead" on the end of the "sweep" so I don't have to fuss with elaborate clamps.
I'll
probably use "step down" speedfits (so 3/8" on one side and 1/2" on the other) and 1/2" OD type M (ID's around .436" so no issue with fitting constriction.
Is anyone already doing this? Speedfits work OK for this application? Can you still "swivel" hoses like you can with sweeps pushed into the Swiftech 5000 blocks? How
tall are the tops of the JG fittings once you've pushed 'em over the stubs on the 6000?
Any "gotchas" I don't know about (and you do)?
IMHO this will be a worthwhile addition to the 6000/6002, but I just find myself wondering why Swiftech doesn't supply 'em - maybe I'm missing some important detail (?) Hence all the questions...
