I disassembled my WC rig a couple weeks ago while moving to a new town and am just now getting ready to put it together again, this time with a shiny new G5 on my Presshot.
My tubing had a pretty bad build-up of that white crap, in spite of running 90% distilled, 10% glycol and about a teaspoon of non-foaming algaecide in a circuit with ~1 gallon of fluid. I've switched to air while I run a 50% distilled, 40% pinesol, 10% lysol solution--a la airspirit (which I found
here )--and already the white stuff if breaking free of the walls and re-entering solution.
I'm not the trusting type, so even after letting this run for 24hrs. and then flushing and sanitizing for another few days I'd like to have a filter in the loop going forward.
So...
Is
this filter (first one at top) adequate? Is it too much? Sediment and minerals aren't really a concern given I use distilled, so mainly I'm looking to remove any future organic growth, and, from the little I've read, disc filters are pretty effective at that. I'm not terribly worried about headloss as I'm running a 30rz, but I'm pretty green when it comes to filters and welcome any advice.
FWIW, the rest of my system consists of an RBX (soon to be replaced), a Fusion HL, 3 Fedco 2-342's in series (yep, it's overkill), ~15' of cheapo 1/2" tubing running to and from the rad box and case, and ~3' of R3603 Tygon plumbed inside the case and mated with the cheap tubing outside.
Any advice you guys can offer is much appreciated
