We made out ok actually considering ...and we're kinda used to to also!
We had winds in excess of 75mph at times I'm sure. At one point my wife had taken my son to hide in the tub as she thought a tornado was surely upon us. I was in the can at the time! LOL
We went through about 24 hours of very heavy winds and rain. I live in the north portion of vermilion parish which has been on cnn a lot the past few days. A few miles south of here is looking like a huge salt water lake. The locks broke which flooded everything south of me so we're taking in tons of evacuee's at the elementary school a block away. The coastal marshlands will waste away from errosion due to the salt intrusion.
Meanwhile ...we lost electricity about 12 or more times throughout the night and the longest period was for about 30 mins when the utility company shut us down to cut some trees and bring others online. Other than that we were the only town (village) to remain with power throughout the storm in this parish (county).
I have a pic at work of either Holly Beach or the city of Cameron can't tell which it was ...but for 7 blocks all that is left is some of the roadways and power poles ...all leaning away from the surge naturally. That was just about where the eyewall hit. 20' surge I think was reported there.
I lost about a 10' section of aluminum facia and that was it. Anyone need some shrouding material ...I'm pretty handy at sheet metal layout! LOL
Glad to hear you made it well BB2k!
