There are ways to recover, some what. You will need to backup to 4.0.855, this is a complete OS, not a patch. To see the snap again try doing reset to factory several times. I fould out by changing the hardware config (freshly formated fat32), net inteface would show up with assist after being on for 10 minutes. Then try to reinstall the software, through assist. You may also try installing the image file to the drive.

I'm not sure I'm following you. My Snap Server is work fine, save the occassional file naming issues from using a Snap Server with the Mac OS X operating system.
