Use digital dolly (dd) from the knoppix CD to copy the boot tracks. After you have installed it you will be required to reinit the drive to get full capacity.
There has been a few that have converted a 1000 to a 2000 model. Remember that these models use a software raid. You may not have enough ram in the 1000. I think it only has 24 meg, where the 2000 has 32 meg.

That last little bit went over my head; I am assuming it is some sort of app for Linux/Unix, of which I have ZERO experience...
I just successfully upgraded the 1000 I had using a clone program that was referred to back in the first few pages of this thread that operates under DOS. It was successful. I didn't really upgrade the drive that much, just went from a 40 to a 60 (all I had), but did it more for "when the hard drive fails" kind of thing.
Interesting to note on the software RAID. So, they actually implement software RAID in the 1000 series, since there isn't a hardware RAID chip in the unit? WOW, that is kind of odd, considering I have never seen a 1000 equipped with RAID, so it is interesting they they would have the feature built-in the software. -EDIT- Just re-read your reply. Are you saying the 2000/2200 also uses a software RAID solution as well? -END EDIT-
But, I guess what your telling me is it won't work? I am either going to go for a RAID 2x60, or a single 120Gig drive (don't want to fight the 137Gig barrier, which btw what determines whether you have this limitation or not? OS, BIOS version, etc?)
Thanks everyone,
-Alan
PS. In all cases I am using the newest V3 OS. Haven't seen the need for V4 in my application yet.
