Default Re: Hack a Snap Sever 1000?

Ooookkkkaaaaayyyyyy.....WTF....Are there are other drive size limits besides the 137Gig barrier?

A few pages back I mentioned a successful upgrade from the stock 40gig to a 60Gig WD drive. It was all I had at the time.

Based on that success, and other posts on the 137Gig limit, I figured I'd get a 120Gig drive.

I did the EXACT same process, and now it no - workie....

Actually, the Snap 1000 WILL BOOT FINE with the new drive, however, any page I select in "Disk Utilities" (such as disk status, format, etc) says that NO DRIVES were found!!!

When I goto the debug page and try to force a REINIT of the drive, it tells me bad device ID. If I do a "devices info" command, it spews out ID's all the way down the page, on and on forever, until the Snap is no longer responsive and locks up.

I put the origional 40 Giger back in, and it works just fine, so maybe the Snap just doesn't like my new drive?

Thoughts anyone?

Origional Drive: Quantum Fireball 40Gig. Sucessful upgrade drive was a WD600BB (7200rpm, ATA100, 60Gig WD). Current attemted drive WD1200SB (7200rpm, 120Gig, *ATA100* I think-specs don't get specific, going to check that out in a second, "RE" server series drive.)

OS is 3.4.805, BIOS is 2.1.366, Hardware 3.1.2

Thanks!

-Alan

-EDIT- UPDATE: Got home and tried again with my Snap 1100. The 1100 likes the new WD "RE" server drive, but I tried EVERYTHING and couldn't get it to work in the 1000....Odd....
