It sounds like he wanted to do a submerging project because in theory it would silence the hard drives. It would kill the harddrives so technically it would silence them So the whole idea is sort of out of the question.

Fluorinert has been discussed here and else where many times before. Its just very very expensive. Unless you have a relative that owes you a favor that works at 3M, its cost eliminates it from the majority of us.
