Sponsors usually want you to have your own website, a very sucessful one at that, with a few popular and well done projects that you have already done. The reason they sponsor you is so you can put their banner on your website, you can show off their products in your system, and you can give personal recommendation in your article. For them this equates to increased advertising and sales, which covers and exceeds their costs of sending you a few parts.

But for the average home modder, theres no benefit for them to send anything free. Your on your own. The majority of modded systems arent really unique or innovative enough these days to deserve special recognition. You're gonna have to make something that is very innovative mechanically and visually, something that most people havent seen before.
