The Nexus controller I was using before seemed to make these particular fans buzz to all hell. No idea why.

There was a recent post on this topic over at the OC forums. The nexus controller was probably using PWM instead of a Darlington Transistor to adjust fan speed. Something about messing up the motor timings. I am currently using a pair of the San Aces myself, I am not able to hear them over my hard drives at 5 feet away from case when adjusted to minimum voltage (~1800 RPM) using an Enermax Ultimate Fan Controller (uses Darlingtron Transistors).
