I went thru the whole procedure again and this time the new drive works, only it doesn't recognize the drive as 40 gig . Actually after format with the command line you gave me the drive shows up as a smaller drive than the original 15 gig. The 15 gig shows as 14.?? and the 40 gig reads 13.?? , (can,t remember the exact figures) I believe it has got some thing to do with the fact that there are partitions on the 40 gig but I have been unsuccesssful in trying to delete the partitions using fdisk. Does that sound like the problem? Not sure therefore I still haven't bought the 250 gig yet .
