I just realized from reading my first post that I didn't indicate which drive had failed. It was one of the 30GB Quantum Fireballs, in case you thought I meant it was one of the new drives. I haven't installed the new drive yet.
The guy who sold it to me said one of the original drives was going bad and I guess he was right. I was getting some errors in the log when it was trying to rebuild the RAID so I broke them up into single drives and saw that one of them was indeed reporting SMART warnings. Right after I installed the RAM everything was working fine and then drive 1 decided to fail.
By the way, does anyone know which drive is which in a 4000? The 4100 has a nice little map in the case pointing them out, but I can't see anything that tells me which drive is which in the 4000. And that also reminds me, should I use Master/Slave with these drives or Cable Select?
