It makes me shiver. Both your description of you current state and your physical predicament.

I am so paranoid about meds in general, that I have to be practically dying before I am willing to take any.

My fist experience with morphine was from my mandibular ostomy.
Two hours of surgery, six gold screws, one overnight stay, and one :squirt: from a neck vein later I am on my way home.
Had all the symptoms you described but never made the connection that it was from the meds.
I did not sleep too well either, for the next week or so as my face shrank from looking like I had a foot ball in my mouth to something more human looking.
