It is good there is a fan there. The mobo's mosfets and other hot parts could use it. Not sure about it being driven by the pump motor though. I can see the fan getting clogged up with dust and lint causing problems. Would be hard to clean as well. I think they they should have made it a take off the unit fan so it could be replaced or easily cleaned.

But I am not an engineer and they seem to be the holy grail to some here.....
