I have the older stacker and it is impossible to keep silent but is very quiet. The HD cage is good at lowering the noise but wasn't enough for me.
If you're referring to my 830 case, you're right, it would be insane to try and silence it by enclosing it.

I've just started the project and I'm taking a different approach to silence (or reducing noise) than most... Instead of putting everything in a vault like case to deaden the sound, I'm hoping to eliminate as much sound as possible and use the ventilation of the 830 to my advantage by allowing everything enough air to breath without any fans other than those side panel fans which will be drawing air through the rads and blowing air over the entire system. If the YL's are as silent as people say, the system should be fairly silent but a lot of air will be moving through the case. We shall see.
