I am using a faceless, sledless 4100 I bought as well. The standoff idea is about as good as any idea. The sleds basically lift the drive off of the bottom slightly. I may try this myself as I have had this unit for two years and have not sucessfully located any sleds but I have seen pics. The trouble to fabricate them is not worth the trouble compared to your idea. Yes, the bottom is flat. The sleds have one nut on the front center as evidenced by the studs present.
