the OS is stored in the first ~30mb on the drive, which is why you need the image, the snap 2000, 4000, and one or 2 others have the OS on the unit.

You can make a drive out of any size you want to. As long as it's an ATA/100 drive and doesnt take a whole ton of power to turn. you can put a drive as large as the new 750's in there if you want to get real crazy. it works.

As far as getting an image, it's not so easy. Easiest thing would be for you to send your drive to one of us and have an image put on your drive.
