Duh! You just said 4 x 400. He said 4 x 500. BIG DIFFERENCE! My reply was to his 4 x 500 drives. There is an extra platter in the 500GB. Those extra platters take extra juice to get them moving. Too much extra juice for a 4000. 4 x 400 is okay, 4 x 500 is too much...
