Are you using Knoppix or The Live CD of DD?

If you are doing a HD to HD you do not need to mount the drives.
If you type "dmesg | grep hd" after you have been made su you should get a listing of HD on your pc. Verfy that the setup matches the instructions. If you failed to set the jumper correctly it will not work. Re boot and look at the bios info of connected drives, if not correct power down and make the corrections.

DO NOT DO ANY DD COMANDS TILL EVERYTHING IS CORRECT OR YOU MAY LOOSE YOUR WORKING DRIVE.
