Most certainly it was powered down for the surgery.

It's running OK now, RAID is OK, but a different drive is throwing off errors during the disk check, so I've been warned. I'm going to buy a few more of the replacement drives, now that I know what I'm doing I can keep it going. Many thanks to the group.

It's not the build that has the modifications, thankfully.

Yes, server grade drives.

FYI, Adaptec went and sold me a drive for $300 that I can get on line for $72 (WD1600SB), gave me bad info on the power supply, so I don't think I'm going to bother with renewing their "contract" again once these things go off warranty.

But it was reasonable to bring the SNAP back to life myself, so I will probably buy another, our IT is not happy with ANY RAID servers these days.

I'm looking at the 410 and 4200 U1's... any thoughts?
