Snap 2200 - Dead? Please Help!

Hi all. I've been reading through this VERY useful forum for a few hours now, but I'm still in question with my Snap 2200. I was given this unit and was told that one of the drives is dead. It's been a while since I've worked on a Snap Server, the last one being an 1100, I think... Or it might have been older then that, I think it was made by Quantum at the time, 40GB maybe. I forget.

Anyway, so I have this 2200, I plugged the power into it and it started to boot, almost like the power button was stuck on. (I didn't touch the power button BTW) It seemed to have powered up and when I look at the lights I get a slow flashing "system" and "disk" which seems to tell me that it is in diagnostic mode. Am I correct with that?

I'm tempted to take out the drives and maybe switch their positions to see if it'll boot. I have some other IDE drives laying around; some 80's, 120's, etc. All IDE of course. Do you guys think I should take out all the drives and toss in some known working ones to see if I can get this thing to boot? I have no software for this thing and I've already emailed Adaptec (their website is 100% worthless for downloading support files) to see if they can send me the Assist program. I've also used some networking tools in my shop to see if it got popped a DHCP'd address.

My thoughts on this unit are to toss in (2) 300GB Seagate’s and use this for an offsite backup box for my small business. The goofy power button seems to concern me, but if I can get this thing working okay it'll be on all the time anyway.

What are your thoughts and how should I proceed to fixing this lovely gem. As I am sure it can not have that many hours on it, the case and fan all look clean. I have not taken it apart yet. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
