Default Snap 4100 data recovery

I have a Snap Server 4100 that has not been used in a while. Today I booted it up to transfer the data to a different server. It powered on, but could not be found on the network. I tried resetting the unit to no avail. Then I unplugged it, and plugged it back in. I tried to power up, and it started, then stopped within about 5 seconds. I retried this several times, and each time it did the same thing. Finally, it would not power at all. I am assuming it is a failed power supply?

I saw the FAQ that said you can only recover the data from a same type unit. My question is - does it have to be EXACTLY the same model? For example, mine is a 4100. Can I purchase a 4000 (which would be cheaper) to move my drives and transfer the data?

Any other suggestions? Anyone wanting to selling a 4100/4000 for cheap?

thanks,
elaine
