In order to have redundency you need 2 drives in Raid1. But you can use only one HD if you like. For raid performance it recomended that you have 2 identical drives including firmware, prefered WD RE drives. These older models were not designed for the large cap drives out there today. The main problem will be heat. I would recommend replacing the cooling fan to a higher cfm to counter the added heat load.

Mine has one memory stick slot with a DIMM in it so I guess it is a V2. How would I check the OS version? I reset the admin password and now can access the web interface. DO you think I should upgrade the OS?
