1.) Better meaning better then what you have. If you have the best then it doesn't not apply.
2.)No intention of undermining anything. That was not even on my mind. Just merely pointing out that I could not even afford the other 2 that are around $500 each let alone yours for more.
3.) The 2 are around $500 each and they probably do have old hard drives in them. If I had the money without a doubt I would buy from you then anybody else. But that is a moot point.
4.) When I can afford it,Where on god's green earth are you able to buy Western Digital RE for approx. $90 + S/H? Please supply me with this link for future purchasing. I think that is a pretty good deal.
5.)And all the other stuff about OS,HD,RAM, you are correct. But for what I can afford I have to come to the conclusion that my unit will have to be one that I have to upgrade and/or accept the way it is because of purchase cost on ebay or some other place. Mind you it must have basic things for me to buy it. Such as, old(HD) or not as much RAM etc...BUT MUST HAVE ALL SLEDS and at least one HD with the old OS on it. (I learned that from you :0))
6.) And I know your profit margin is not very high. I get that feeling by what you say. And you are entitled to make a profit. I'm just thankful that you are not a greedy profit taking person. Which is a nice change of pace in life.
7.)And I thank you very much for the little known information about the "buy it now" surprise. Unfortunitly, I will not be able to take advantage of this great offer. But I do thank you for the heads up.

All in all, I would recommend your servers for sale over all others. Even the makers. Because at least you test and retest and have a attention to details which is very important. And if it's not correct you fix it. And you also give tech support. And let's not forget David who is just as important to this forum too.

You said you just saw two for about $500. Please keep in mind, I would bet just about anything they have hard drives and/or drive sleds missing, or they have old drives, etc... -AND- you can bet your front teeth at those prices the memory has not been upgraded and the OS is an older version.

Why is that important? I am glad you asked.

Because what good is a snap server if you can't rely on the drives without fear? Most of these units are well over 3 years old and have the original hard disks in them, if at all. Those drives are due for failure any time.

And, quality Registered ECC memory is not cheap, but makes a big difference in these more powereful units.

Plus lastly, if you want to be compatible with Windows XP and/or Win2K03, much less anything newer, you need at least OS version 4.2.054, and I would still recommend 4.4.049. And, for Vista, OS X newer versions, and newer Windows Server versions, you must have OS 4.4.049. After all the conversation on this forum, I am sure by now everyone knows how expensive the OS upgrades are.

FYI, Western Digital RE (RAID Edition) drives are by far the very best drives you can put into these units, and I am 100% sure David and anyone in the know would agree. But, those drives come at a price. Unless you can buy them in large bulk, or find a very awesome deal, the WD RE 250 GB drives are like $90 plus shipping, each, or more.

I am not sure if you meant $500 each, or $500 for two, so I will just say $250 for one. Which I might add is a very damn good price for a fully working unit (no sleds or anythng else missing and operational).

So let's take that $250 unit, add in $50 to $75 in memory, put in $375 worth of drives, and pay $600 for the OS upgrade. That comes to $1275 once you're done. And this is all assuming there is nothing wrong with or missing from that $250 unit (and I would not bet on it at that price).

Kind of makes the prices I am aksing for those units seem smaller, don't it?

Again Bitor, I don't think you meant it that way, but I would guess a few people reading it took it that way, so I needed to clarify. I am charging as little for those units as I am able, and they are very good working units.

I was planning on, that when the first of those items I have up for sale gets a bid, I am going to end the auction and sell to that buyer. Meaning they will essentially get a buy-it-now for the starting price. But I did not put that in my auctions, I wanted it to be a nice surprise for someone. So Shhhh, don't tell anyone. And it will ONLY be for the first one of those items to get a bid. I am only telling you because I know you have been wanting one for a long time, along with a number of people here on the forum (as well as the drives I can't talk about). But that has been my plan.
