Default Re: Reimiaging instructions don't seem correct

Mate, I found that too...

Do the live knoppix cd and once booted open up a shell, (Like a Command Prompt window in 2k or xp) you will see the knoppix icon for the shell is a little sea shell too! (those tricky Germans - my missus just flicked me with a tea-towel...)

If the PC you use, has a C-drive that is not a Fat32 partition you will need to make a Fat32 partition somewhere else on another part of that drive or a separate drive... this gets tricky when you already have 2x HDD's and a DVD-Rom, there is a 4th ide port but limited space in your case can be an issue...

The other thing that I knew a little bit about but needed to be prepared for was the hdc / hdd naming part... depending on which drive / partition you have, that is the Fat32 partition, you will have to work out where it is and make the change as you go to the instructions, those step by step's assume your C-drive is Fat32 on a win98 pc... (probably because the step by step was written late last century I would propose?)

Use an old PC if you can or a test bench setup with a bootable DVD/CD... nothing says the Fat32 drive has to have an OS on it... you just need to be able to write the images to that HDD (from a floppy?) and type the commands to it from the bootable Knoppix cd's Shell...

Have a go.. you will see in the step by step that they get you to test that you have actually got it all set up the right way before they get you to do anything drastic...
