Default Re: Upgrading Ram in a 410 w/Guardian OS 4.4

Well first, there are a few factors concerning RAM other then the obvious stuff like pin count and voltage..etc

1.) Registered or non registered ram
2.) What is the max. your motherboard will support?
3.) Double sided or single sided?
4.) Density of chips.

Make sure you properly align the motherboard to RAM notches too.
If you get or have checked those thing out with the MFG then you are good to go. There may be other things to consider as well.
I personally like to shutdown unplug and ground myself out BEFORE I even touch or put my hand inside the machine. I would also recommend you washing your hands really well and drying them off before you start touching the ram because of the oils on your hand.
Let a few others post here before you start digging in, to get a better group concences.

Is there anything special about doing this? Do I have to get into the root system via my null modem cable and tell the system it now has 1gig?

The downloaded documentation simply says to pop the hood take out ram insert new ram and close it up, start server.

Things rarely go that easy around here.
