Default Re: Snap Server 1000

Early on we (users of this site) discovered that certain drives did not work right with the Snaps. What was determine was the way the snap handled the EIDE interface. This is the reason some drives would work and other not. Surprisingly the Seagates were the most compatiable at the time along with the WD. Maxtors were the worst. There is a BIOS in the SNAP, in the flashram used for the firmware. Another issue was the SMART tech, which goes back to the EIDE controller and BIOS issues. But it's been a long time since any one has had any problems with it. My guess is that you have one of the early models due to the original HD size. I think we had one user that used the MFG utility to change some settings in the HD firmware to make his work. I was also informed that the SnapAppliance changed specific settngs in the HD firmware, but have NO idea as to what. But this was may years ago. Adaptec did update the firmware in these units. There are about 4 different version out that I'm aware of.
