I have never had a problem with AMD... They have been around as long as Intel and do the engineering right.
Now, are all parts equal??... certainly not, but, I would rather have the Athlon-64/Opteron over any of the P4/Netburst processors (which they competed head-2-head with)...
Nowadays, if you want CPU power and crunch ability, you need the CORE2 Intel... Want to move a lot of data around or have a great general purpose server??, the HyperTransport AMD is your ticket...
As someone once said... get software that does what you need and then buy what it runs on. That is what makes the market big enough for more than one (or two) CPU manufacturers... Not all CPU's work well with all software.
BTW... the 410 is a Centaur HAULS processor (VIA Esther) @ 2ghz... Built in Crypto engine, but, a bit anemic for a NAS server... oh well... Price was definately righteous...
