Default Assist fails to assign IP address

Greetings,
I have searched and found no solution to this issue. We have an 1100 that had been working fine. It was shipped to me from another facility, and now I am having issues. It seems that the assist utility will see the unit, but is unable to assign an IP adress, and unable to set the unit in DHCP mode either. The unit itself shows no error conditions, at least as far as the LED's state. System light flashes every 1 second or so, occasional network blinking, disk light is off, except at startup.

I have reset the unit numerous times, and still the same issue. when I click the "next" button to assign the IP address, all is well (Checking if IP is available) until the step where the address is assigned. The app sits with the assigning address popup visible, for quite a few seconds, before the error window pops up stating that it cannot connect with the server at the assigned IP address.

I have rebooted the server, and indeed, cannot connect to or ping the assigned address.

Any ideas?
