To answer my own question.

I've just been told by Overland support that the problems related to Windows 2003 64bit version and Vista SP1 and incompatibilities with the version of Samba there using.

They've also told me that the problem is being worked on along with the Win 2008 server issue and won't be release for at least another 3 months.
