Let me let you in on a little (dirty) secret.

David and I (and others, but I will only speak for he and I) used to reply and find answers (if we didn't already have them) to questions on here to the best of our ability. Mass amounts of time was spent looking for answers, posting answers (we both type like crap), and sorting things out as best we could.

Have you noticed we have not done that, to the same extent we used to, for quite some time now? It was because of the prevailing attitude. Saying it sucked is being nice.

First (David's favorites) you had the group who would blaze in, ask a question (75% of the time, one that had been asked and answered a hundred times before), then never see them again after you posted the answer. No passing on the help to others (like answering that question for the next one who asked it), no thank you, no nothing. In fact, 1/2 the time, they wouldn't even let you know how it worked out for them. Grab and run...

Then my personal favorites. People who would ask a question, then would argue the answer you give them for the next 20 messages. I always wonder, if they know so much, then how come they asked the question? Some of these debates would get very heated and amounted to biting the hand that feeds you. It gets real old having to defend yourself on things you have proved over and over to people who don't have a clue and still expect you to answer them.

Then there is the "you owe me" group. They come here and treat us all like we owe them somehow and act like they are paying us and we are their personal tech support.

Then, this is the one that broke me in the end. The I want it handed to me for free, even though it costs you money and/or tech work time. You have no idea how many times I have people want me to do tech work for them and they want it for free or pay me 1/10th minimum wage to do it at best. These people have no clue how good a deal I offer and what this stuff costs.

There is more, but you get the idea, and I bet since you been here a while, you have seen every one of them over and over. It just got old, and David and I (we talk on the phone) just decided to back way off and deal with it on a case by case and if we feel like it type deal. I know that sounds crappy, but after a while, those types above just wore us down.

I can't speak for others, but I know I have seen quite a number of helpful people just fade away from here and I am pretty sure it is because of those people I just described.
