I truly hope people reading this message thread will take the time to read , and not skim, this message fully. I will try to be perfectly clear.
I do not work for, nor ever worked for, or have any affiliations, legal or otherwise, with Adaptec or Overland.
I DO NOT have any rights to distribution of Overland Copyrighted software beyond what anyone else has on this forum.
I am a retired/disabled veteran who is/was an engineering technician (not the same thing as a technician for those who do not know).
Like many of you, I use Snap Servers at home for NAS and file serving.
My pension/disability is not very much to live on, so I do what little side work I am able to do and refurbish some Snap Servers for resale on eBay etc to help make ends meet. Contrary to popular belief, I make very little doing that, but every little bit helps make ends meet in my home.
Doing the above, looking for very hard to get parts and/or resources, I have been able to make a contact or two here and there (Overland in this case). These type relationships are recipracating. Meaning, sometimes, they will send someone my way they do not feel they can help but I might be able to, and in fact, on my recommendations, have sent people here to this forum. Mostly this will be on equipments they no longer can really support (A Snap 1100 in this case). Unlike Adaptec (IMHO), Overland is doing their level best (also IMHO) to provide decent customer support, even where they themselves can no longer provide direct support. Overland is doing a credible job of trying to bring back the reputation of the Snap Servers that we all know Adaptec ran into the ground. Credit where credit is due.
Contray to what an A$$hole recently accused me of. I am not a Snap Server "fanboy". I look to the equipment that is servering me best, the software that is serving me best, and support where possible that is serving me best. I have no problems switching to something different if it serves my uses better. Right now, and for some time, the Snap Servers have served me best, and still are. When they don't, they are gone. Proof might be the fact that I don't own a Snap 410, 510, 520, 550, 620, 650, etc etc etc. For my uses, the 4400, 4200, 4500, and 15000 do the best job and thus what I have. I do not care much for the later Snap Servers Adaptec put out. JMO.
Now, with that out of the way, let's see if we can help this guy out.
