Default Should I upgrade or sell my Snap 2200?

I have a Snap 2200 which currently has a pair of recycled 80GB drives in it (Mirrored), I am going to need more space soon as the wifes laptop is about out of space and I need someplace to dump the older pictures and videos on.

Would I be better served by picking up a pair of larger (250GB to 1TB) drives and installing them into my 2200 (replacing the current pair of 80s) or by selling the Snap (with the 80s in it) and getting a new RAID capable NAS box?
Complicating the situation, I am thinking of (in the next year or so) setting up a small home server with Ubuntu or Centos and if I upgrade the drives, they will probably go into that box (but I will need more storage space in the next month or so).

According to the "About" page on the 2200, I have firmware version 4.0.860, hardware version 2.04 and BIOS version 4.0.855. So, if I read the wiki correctly, I can install larger drives with my current firmware.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
