Hello there, been browsing the site and forums for the past week but think it's come to the point where it's time to ask for advice;

Got a Snap 1100 with standard 80GB disk which I was looking to upgrade to 250GB.

I referred to the 'Write Image to HD with DD' and 'Copy HD to HD with DD' threads etc before attempting the process, but think I might have messed up somewhere along the way...
Was struggling to get the 250GB disk to work so decided to put the 80GB disk back in to check the version of the bios it's running etc. I then found though that it no longer boots - I'm getting the 1-2 System-Disk light pattern which I believe suggests the disk is no longer recognised.
I'm guessing the reason can only be that I've inadvertently messed the source and destination disks up and managed to overwrite the boot image. I was however taking care to ensure this didn't happen so I'm hoping someone can advise me on how to check this theory...?

My knowledge of Linux is none existent unless spoon fed the commands. I'm assuming there is something I can use to read the files on the disk and check for the existence of particular boot files?

Finally, is the device fussy about what the jumpers are set to when looking at the disk? ie Master, Slave or CS?
