I think my pump is going, but it's not an emergency...

My watercooler isn't even up yet, but I think I better replace my lil maxijet 1200 (I can hear the eheim chant coming ).

I was running a test with my rad, pump, and cheapo vinyl tubing. After running for six hours, it sounded a little gritty, so I took the setup apart and looked inside. The metal rod that the impellar rotated around looked like it was scored or brushed, and turning the fins manually revieled a very rough feeling, not smooth like the last test. I don't blame this on the pump/company though, because I had dropped the pump before the testing, and while I was still fiddling with the hoses, some water came out of the heatercore that appeared to have tiny metal flakes in it (at first I thought it was bacteria growth, but the little particles seemed to sparkle). My theory right now is that the fall didn't help, but the metal flakes lightly grinded the impellar shaft down

Well, now I need a new pump and I'm looking at a maxijet 900 because it still pumps 230GPH and only consumes 8W compared to 20W on the mj1200 (which pumps 295GPH). From what I've read around here, 230GPH for just a heatercore and block should be plenty, right?

(I'm sure glad I caught this problem before I hooked it up to comp, lol!)
