YES I do have ACPI turned off in the BIOS. Last summer when I built this rig folks were experiencing problems with it so I disabled it.
Your are the first person that ever mentioned ACPI had anything to do with idle temps, thanks!
I'm not sure I can just toggle it on and off effectively in the BIOS from what I recall. I remember reading on the forums that the setting in the bios prior to the OS being installed was the proper method to disable ACPI. Not sure I can just go back and enable it in the BIOS and have all be well. Don't want to upset the OS, my machine is very stable.
But I'm itchin' to see if it drops the idle temps! "Tweak it 'til you blow it up", someone's sig reads!
