that is indeed what it looks like..... here is a closeup of a CPU block, using the same manufacturing technique.....

as you can see the holes are interconnected on each corner, forming a grid....
might I add.... that is a lot of hard work, to drill holes that close together, by hand.... takes me about 7 hours continues to make an aluminum one like that....
