Trimmers versus potentiometers - basically the same thing. This is kind of like the difference between a tube and a hose

Potentiometers is a general term applying to variable resistors. Trimmers tend to be small,
low power, 10 to 20 turn potentiometers for making fine scale adjustments in low power applications (power relative to the trimmer). Rheostats are
high power potentiometers.
(then you get into linear taper, log taper, .....)
