With a decent pump it won't matter where the waterblock is, the bubbles move very fast with my 1/2" and Mag-Drive 350 (almost to fast to see!).
The T-fittings also doesn't need to be the highest item in the system, it just helps to be after the pump output, on the highest section of that hose (the pump tends to collect the bubbles) so that the bubbles that are stuck in the pump can rise out easiest if you shut off the computer.
