I just saw a post regarding the possibility of using 3/8" tubings on 1/2" fittings? Any advantages/disadvantages regarding this issue??

Also, by using 1/2" tubing increases the flow rate, and thus the performance right? So, is it possible to use the above mentioned componets with 1/2" tubings only; and securing the tubing to the fitting of the block (3/8") with clamps??
