Today at scool i was at the vending machine, planning to get my daily bag of Sun Chips. But today, i saw a Moon pie in the lowest row. The 75cent row. I remember hearing of a moon pie in movies and on TV, but i have never seen one in real life, so i decided to take the leap and forgo my daily chips in favor of a moon pie.
As soon as i opened it, i was reminded of a Big Mac from McDonalds. For those who may not know, a moon pie is a double decker "sandwitch" with grahm crackers and a marshmallow like compound. This is all covered with a brownis-tan(sorta the color of Diahrea mixed with milk) mystery compound similar to the hard candy coat on an m&m, but softer.
It was pretty good, but i do have one question. Maybee all the moon pie veterans can answer this. Exactly what is that brownish-tan coating that covers the pie?
I checked on the moon pie site, and they claim that it is a bananna flavored coating
Quote:
Once the marshmallow sandwiches are made, they are lovingly inspected and centered in place. Then they are drenched in a chocolate, banana or vanilla coating.

But it doesnt taste like banana. Are there any moon pie insiders out there who know the real story behind what this mystery substance is?
