I think I am competent enough to put together a water cooled system (thanks to what I've learned on these forums), and I might even be able to do the pelt thing (although I'd still need help finding the right power supply), but... I'm not sure that I could piece together my own phase change rig.

Aristotle, you and me both. But i am actually considdering taking an HVAC course and trying to build a phase change setup of my own.
Would this be the propper aproach to getting into phase change cooling?
