that depends on your case. in a typical ATX case, you should be able to mount a 12 inch CC vertically, either along the front or rear inside of the case. mounting the light vertically will cast an even amount of light on the MoBo and expansion cards. if you mounted the light horizonatally along the bottom or top (maybe on the support bar...if your case has one), the light will stop at the AGP card (thus creating a shadow or unlight area under or above the card).
so if you only use one light, mount it vertically. if you use 2 lights, you will want them mounted horizontally with one along the bottom, and one along the top (if you mount them vertically, it'll look like crap since they will kinda 'wash out' in the middle of the MoBo, but if they are mounted horizontally, the bottom part of the MoBo will be one color, while the top will be the other color (if you are using a dual-color setup anyway...theres no point in using two 12 inch CCs of the same color, as one is MORE than enuff to compleatly light up the interior of a case)).
