If that is your way of thinking then maybe you should check and see if you have much of a flow. The center of a 120mm fan has a large dead space that does not move any air. The closer this fan is against the rad the rad is not going to be cooled where no air is moving. Kind of like a hurricane affect. The center of the eye is calm and the outside edges are very turbulent.
