Pull from a thread... yes this deserves its own thread
Otay i got the wierdest setup of all. Many ppl dont call it watercooling becuz of the portability and the stuff i used in my homebrew kit. It took me a while to set this up cuz i always asked ppl Qs and not rtfm'ed. hehe *cough*phaestus*cough*. Alrighty lets get to the explaination and the results.
I got a condensor NOT a radiator or heater core. It basically does the same thing. According to this mechanic friend who supplied me with it, it is a pull from a honda. It is used to cool the freon in the a/c system. So its basically the same thing. Pro/Site had an explaination of all radiators I think mine fits the one that is supposed to be the slowest of all and has the largest surface area.
The waterblock is nothing special. Maze 1c for free from DDen.
Tubing: 7 feet of silicone (shoulda gotten more).
Pump: Eheim 1250 317 gph from DDen.
Fan: LOUD ASS Comair-Rotron 200 cfm 55dba from Caseetc. Keep this in mind cuz its the reason why my watercooling isnt officially watercooling.
Now to the ghettoest part of it. My Resevoir. My resevoir wasnt really intended to be what it turned out to be. I was just using a jug to do the measurements. I used 1/2 gallon of water. My setup uses a little bit more than 1/4 gallon but its nice to have the extra. My mom got upset when she saw that I got some sort of colored chemical in the jug so she toldme to throw the jug away after i'm done. So i just kept it. And now, my pump is setup on top of 3 Phonebooks to get to the water, and the water is inside my Jug and the jug has a digital probe that is used for checking if ur beef is cooked hehe.
So lets restate all of this insanity. I have all of my system OUTSIDE my case. only two tubes for inlet and outlet going into my box. The outlet goes out to the Jug, Eheim 1250 pump sucks water from the jug to the radiator, radiator got a 55dba fan and then from there, the water goes straight into my 1700+ AXP.
All of this stuff makes ALOT of noise. My computer desk is right next to the Air Conditioning closet so I just stuffed everything in there and let the tubes out. I got pictures of this but i'm too lazay to put it up haha. here is a link of the stuff before being stuffed in the closet. You can see the closet door is right next to it

Results:
My AXP 1700+ stock speed is 1467 mhz. Its stock multiplier and FSB is 11x133. Right now, I am running it at 11x155. I could drop the multiplier down to 10x. BUT! my memory stinx. it doesnt work at 10x170. Which is basically the same speed. I even tried 10x180 and it POSTs but no windows. So i guess i need to get that Mushkin level 2 performance series.
Temperatures:
This is where I am not as impressed. This computer is in the basement. My Temps are usually 10 degrees celsius above Ambient. Its usually 29C ambient, 39C CPU and say 26 water temp in the resevoir. I just turned on my AC like 1 hr ago and it did wonders to my radiator. I expected the AC would cause alot of heat and warm it up not cool it down. After its been on for that long, my Temps are now, 27 Ambient, 23C water, 35C CPU. THATS A WHOPPING 4C! I am personally not a fan of getting 5 degrees better and paying 30 bux so no maze3. Thats why I am considering a peltier. My friend broke his peltier by installing it backwards. Just a funny thing i thought i should include in there hehe.
Conclusion:
If i knew ahead of time would I have done this? DEFINITELY. I think this has been a very interesting experience. heck, i knew about watercooling about 2 months ago. Maybe even less. After a bad experience with an Aquastealth II kit from becooling i decided to go hardcore and make my own kit.
Recommendations:
Well, I am no expert, so the only tip i can give is RTFM! haha. really it works take it from a hardcore n00b. If you want to get watercooling just set aside 100 dollars and some social engineering skills. I am gonna get that mushkin chip 20% off cuz i'm leet and i got the maze1c free. Yeah, the maze 1c is crappy but its free. the condensor is probably gonna be for 50 dollars but i got it for free. about the fans. I DO NOT recommend you get this comair rotron, instead get 4 panaflos and install them. I can hear my fan upstairs in my air conditioning vent. NOT COOL! Right now as i said, my fan is on the floor so its cooling only the bottom part of the rad. I will be making some sort of cardboard thingy to spread the air evenly. Its gonna take a while to setup tho.
Well i got sum serious essay to write on this and on two plays i read. Damn school. Got questions? Reply.
i will try to setup a legit res using this 12oz Du-Bro tank i bought from a local hobby shop. its not really local its 10 miles away. I got it for 4.19 bux taxes included. u should get one too. I wonder how much the 1/2in fittings would be...
Picture 23 and 24 show the current setup.
