that's what I did for my GF3... I just unplugged the little fan, and set a panaBLO  L1A 80mm fan on top of my sound card, aimed up at the GF3. (I made 'stilts' for the fan by bending zip ties back and forth through the screw holes...) The airflow is great... warning: at 5v, the fan produces very little flow, and the card will overheat, crashing your system. I think 7v should be fine. I'd use a rheo and run it b/n 8-12v. (you can hear it at 12v).
I did the same thing for my Northbridge... the fan is sitting atop the GF3, aimed at the chip.
